Selection Guidelines
The primary role of the Red Wing Royal Ambassador is to represent “Pretty Little Red Wing” at community events across the area as well as here in Red Wing. Each Ambassador will promote local events, volunteer and encourage tourism for Red Wing.
Requirements
Candidates must:
Register for candidacy by the deadline.
Be a high school junior up to 21 years of age at the time of coronation.
Reside, work, or attend school in Red Wing.
Have never been married or had a marriage annulled. Will not marry during her reign.
May not be pregnant nor have children.
Previous Ambassador Candidates ARE eligible for participation and are welcome to join again.
Young women are welcome to participate only for the Candidate Experience and have the right to opt out of being selected as an Ambassador if they so choose.
Selection Criteria
Poise – The way in which the candidate conducts herself with others during events as well as outside of program events; posture, mannerisms and proper attire.
Personality – Reflects sound qualities of mind and character. Ability to socialize with people of all ages and positions; is genuine and enthusiastic. Must be able to handle herself with confidence and decorum in any situation.
Communication Skills –Be articulate.Possess interpersonal and public speaking skills.
Appearance – Well groomed and tastefully attired.
Acceptance of Duties and Responsibilities – Verify willingness to accept the role of and responsibilities of an Ambassador position.
Attendance — Been prompt and willing to participate in candidate events with enthusiasm. Proven ability to communicate, coordinate and manage her schedule.
Social Media – Demonstrates appropriate social media content. All media subject to review by judges.
Volunteer Platform – Demonstrates strong and cohesive college-level skills. Is able to articulate a plan for volunteering, and has basic knowledge of her selected platform.
